Percolator

There are two methods to achieve the same delicious tasting perc! Electric or stovetop. Follow along to learn the ways to achieve this great brew!

electric perolator method

1. grind & measure

Weigh about 15 g of coarse ground coffee for every 250 mL of water.

2. prepare the perc

Add cold water to the percolator reservoir, place the funnel filter on top, add the grounds to the basket and press it down gently.

3. plug in & wait

Plug your perc into your outlet, and let the magic happen! Most percs will indicate by light when the brew is complete. Then discard your grinds and enjoy!

stovetop percolator method

1. grind & measure

Weigh about 15 g of coarse ground coffee for every 250 mL of water.

2. prepare the perc

First, add cold water to the percolator reservoir. Then place the funnel filter on top, add the ground coffee to the basket and press it down gently.

3. heat up the perc

Set perc over medium-low heat, and watch it carefully through the globe on top of the lid for monitoring.

4. Maintain temperature

Once you see bubbles begin to form, adjust the heat source to maintain the temperature. For an ideal brew, you want to see one bubble, or “perk,” every couple of seconds.

5. let percolation occur

Brew for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you want your coffee. When the time is up, CAREFULLY take the percolator off the heat. The perc will be hot.

6. enjoy

Discard the grinds from the perc, pour into your cup, and enjoy!
